SHEET A-301 · WEBSITE CHECK

A-301 — FREE WEBSITE CHECK

Is your website costing you calls?

Paste your website address. In about 10 seconds we check the 18 things that decide whether a homeowner on a phone calls you or the next contractor: tap-to-call, the phone layout, what Google reads, your license and reviews, speed. Each problem comes with its fix.

A-302 — WHAT WE CHECK

What we look at, and why it matters to a homeowner.

GETTING THE CALL

Fits a phone screen
A homeowner with a leak looks you up on a phone. Without a mobile viewport, the phone shows a shrunken desktop page they have to pinch and zoom.
Tap-to-call
On a phone, a number that isn't a tap-to-call link has to be copied or remembered. Every extra step loses some callers.
Phone number in the text
Your number should be real text, not part of an image, so phones, Google and screen readers can read it.
Quote request form
Plenty of homeowners won't call at 10 p.m. or from work. A short form (name, phone, what's wrong) catches those jobs.

BEING FOUND ON GOOGLE

Google headline
Your page title is the blue headline on Google. It should say what you do and where, like "Water Heater Repair in Tucson, AZ | Rivera Plumbing".
Google description
The two lines under your headline on Google. Without one, Google picks a bit of text from your page, which may not be the part you'd choose.
One main heading
One clear heading at the top tells visitors and Google what the page is about.
Business info for Google
Structured data (schema.org) hands Google your business type, phone, hours and service area in a format it reads directly.
Visible to Google
A "noindex" tag tells Google to keep the page out of its results. It is sometimes left on by mistake after a site is built.
One official address
A canonical tag tells Google which address is the real one when your site opens both with and without www.
Spanish version
About 45 million people in the US speak Spanish at home (U.S. Census Bureau, 2025). A real Spanish page helps you show up in Spanish searches and puts those callers at ease.
Photo descriptions
Alt text describes your job photos to Google Images and to people using screen readers.

EARNING TRUST

Secure connection (https)
Without https, Chrome shows "Not secure" next to your address, and your forms send people's details unprotected.
License number shown
Homeowners look for it, and some states, including California and Florida, require your license number in your advertising.
Reviews on the page
People check reviews before they call. Real reviews on your homepage save them a trip to Google, where your competitors are one tap away.
Looks up to date
An old copyright year makes some visitors wonder whether you're still in business.

SPEED

Server response
How long your server took to send the page, measured from our server (not a phone), redirects included. Slow hosting slows down everything else.
Page code size
The size of the homepage's HTML alone, before photos and scripts. Heavy page builders send a lot of code to every phone.

Questions about the check

Is it really free? Do I need to give my email?

It's free, and it runs without an email or an account. If you like what you see in the preview afterwards, that's when you can give us your email.

Do you keep my website address or my report?

No. We load your homepage once to check it, and we don't store the address or the results. To stop abuse, we count checks per visitor for one hour using a scrambled (hashed) version of the IP address, never the address itself, and delete those counts after a day.

Why only the homepage?

It's the page your Google Business Profile, your ads and your truck usually send people to, and the one that decides whether they call.

My score is low. Do I need a new website?

Not always. Each item comes with its fix, and many can be done on your current site in an afternoon. If you have several red items or you can't easily edit your site, starting fresh is often quicker. That's what we do: you can see your new homepage free before you decide anything.

Is this the same as Google's PageSpeed test?

No. PageSpeed goes deep on speed. This check covers what decides whether a homeowner calls you: tap-to-call, the phone layout, what Google reads, and trust signals like your license and reviews.
